DNA Test Status and Results


MyHerd offers the convenience of viewing DNA status's and results. You will get an email with your DNA results statement as soon as the lab finished processing the sample. Remember, it takes between

three to four weeks from when the sample is received at the lab, to get results back.



How to view DNA Results:


       1. The "DNA Results" can be found under the "Actions" tab

               


       2. To view any DNA results on the animal, click the blue arrow to the left of the animal's registration number and the results will populate below.

               - Note: Do not click on the animal's registration number. This will open up the Animal Inquiry screen as a new tab.

               a.. Use the "Search" function to easily find animals. You can search by the animals registration number, herd ID, or any part of their name.

               b.. Or Filter your list of animals down to the list you need. You can filter by the test, reason, GE-EPD test, or Horn/Poll Test.

       


               c. The sire and dam shown are the parents that were indicated when the DNA request was made.

                       - Possible results: Qualifies, Does Not Qualify, or Not Tested.

               d. Color Dilutor - Carrier animals when mated with black cattle can produce offspring with a gray, smoky, or chocolate hair color.

               e. Idiopathic Epilepsy - Seizures occurring from birth to several months of age (lethal abnormality).

               f. Hypotrichosis (hairlessness) - Partial to almost complete lack of hair.

                       - Possible results for abnormalities: Homozygous Normal, Heterozygous Carrier, or Homozygous Affected.

               g. GE-EPD (Genomic Enhanced EPDs) - Evaluates the genetic merit of animals to increase the accuracy of EPDs.

                                                                                   DNA test reveal the genotype of an animal for specific DNA markers for a particular trait.

               h. Horn/Polled - Test for the horn/polled gene. Does not identify the scur gene.

                       - Possible results: Homozygous Polled, Heterozygous Polled, or Homozygous Horned.


       3. To view the EPDs of the animal click the "EPDs" tab next to the "Results" tab.
